The Dutch Ambassador for Youth, Education and Work, Mr. Jurriaan Middelhoff joined Youth-Jo:Level up! trainees during one of the agriculture technical trainings held at Al Balqa Applied University.
During the visit, Middelhoff attended part of the training activities and engaged in an interactive session with project’s implementers and most importantly youth, who shared their learning experience and future aspirations.
Dutch funded Youth-jo: level up, launched in 2022, is aligned with the skills to job nexus fund and with the national policy for youth and employment in Jordan and is a priority of Dutch development policy. The project aims at capacitating 1,500 youth with employment and entrepreneurship skills in tourism and agriculture sectors.
Mr. Jurriaan Middelhoff, the Ambassador for Youth, Education and Work said, “It was great to be able to sit in on the technical trainings and engage with the youth who are taking these courses. The Netherlands puts youth at the heart of its development cooperation policies – we invest in their education and their work to better prepare them for the world of work, now and tomorrow.”
Mr. Waleed Tarawneh, CEO of Partners for Good (PfG) – Youth-Jo: LevelUp! project implementer noted “Youth- Jo: LevelUp! goes beyond upskilling and enhancing employability. We at PfG along with our partners from Advance Consulting and Luminus for Social Development, aspire to boost youth resilience and entrepreneurial potential in 2 vital sectors in Jordan”, He added “the technical and vocational trainings youth receive are complemented with a robust foundational and soft skilling program that equips youth with life and professional skills that increases their economic participation’s prospects”
The agricultural sector in Jordan is a promising one, playing a crucial role in ensuring food security, stated Eng. Lamia Dabbas, Regional Director of Advance Consulting. Through Youth-Jo: Level Up project, we aim to enhance the skills and experiences of training program beneficiaries, making it easier for them to participate in the labor market and establish successful agricultural ventures.
Professor Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni, the President of Al-Balqaa Applied University expressed excitement about the visit by Mr. Jurriaan Middelhoff, Youth Ambassador from the Netherlands. During his visit, Mr. Middelhoff had the opportunity to see the agriculture graduates and their training programs in the agricultural sector. The university is proud to collaborate with Partners for Good & Advance Consulting under the YJLU project, which provides training programs that help develop the skills of graduates. This collaboration is expected to have a positive impact on the students, as they will be able to apply the skills they have learned to their future careers in the agricultural industry. Professor Al-Ajlouni expressed hope for continued collaboration in the future to further improve the skills and knowledge of their students.
