In 2013, the World Bank (WB) launched the Emergency Services and Social Resilience Project (ESSRP) which supported municipalities to respond to immediate service delivery impacts of Syrian refugees and strengthened municipal capacity to support local economic development. The Municipal Services and Social Resilience Project (MSSRP) is part of this effort launched to support the Government of Jordan (GoJ) by generating employment opportunities and by contributing to the Government’s efforts to regularize the work force through alignment with ongoing initiatives. (2) by placing a premium on addressing risks to social cohesion in response to tensions between refugee and host communities and between local communities and administrative authorities.
PfG was responsible for the Youth Monitoring component of the project. The overall purpose of Youth Monitoring (YM) is to directly engage young people in development processes, to promote positive relationships between youth and municipalities and government institutions, in general, and to support participating municipalities in tracking process and outcome indicators related to sub-projects.
