As part of USAID CITIES program, PfG worked directly with 100 Municipal Local Development Units (MLDUs) in addition to the Petra Authority. The USAID Jordan Cities Implementing Transparent, Innovative, and Effective Solutions (CITIES) project aimed at supporting the development of more inclusive government operations. Citizens, recognizing their right to articulate their needs, and municipalities gaining the organizational and management capacity to address those needs effectively.
Task entailed providing direct technical assistance, implementing, modifying and customizing the “needs guide and development plan”, training 202 staff members to plan and hold local “community consultation sessions” and assisting municipalities in submitting all needs lists as collected from the sessions. PfG monitored and guided Municipalities to conduct over 300 community consultation sessions with above 8000 community members participating.
PfG was responsible for training staff members of 100 Municipalities in Jordan to train the municipal local development units’ staff on applying the Procedures Manual for Preparing the Needs Guide and Development Plan. The purpose of the trainings on the Procedures Manual was to prepare the needs lists and developmental plan for municipalities which was developed by USAID Community Engagement Program (CEP). This mandate was designed to support the role of Local Councils to prepare their local needs and priorities lists that are used by municipalities to prepare their developmental plans.
